Motorola Atrix 4G Preview Video Available Courtesy of AT&T
Considering that it has just lost the iPhone exclusivity and that Verizon is already making a great impression among its subscribers with the “old” iPhone 4, we’re not surprised to see AT&T trying to fight Big Red on multiple fronts, Android included.

One of the most promising Android handsets of the beginning of the year, the Motorola Atrix 4G, is AT&T-bound and the carrier seems interested in pitching it to as many of its subscribers as possible, and not only, in a clear attempt to keep them away from Verizon.
The Atrix 4G already has a Verizon CDMA version, the Droid Bionic, but Big Red is going to start selling that phone only later in Q2. Therefore the Atrix 4G will fight with the HTC Thunderbolt, Verizon’s upcoming flagship Android handset.
Can the Atrix 4G beat the HTC Thunderbolt? AT&T has put up a short 1-minute video on YouTube detailing the most important features of the Atrix 4G without actually comparing it to any other device out there. AT&T insists on the 1GHz dual-core processor, the 4-inch qHD display, 16GB of on-board memory upgradeable to 48GB via microSD card, dual-mic noise reduction, Android 2.2 Froyo with Motoblur, with Flash support and Swype, fingerprint and pattern security unlock features, Webtop support (with Laptop Dock and HD Multimedia Dock), Mobile Hotspot feature and DLNA support, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and a front-facing camera.
The Atrix 4G is indeed one of the most impressive handsets launched at CES 2011, and while we can only appreciate the specs and features above, we certainly can’t appreciate that steep Laptop Dock price. Motorola and AT&T will ask $499 for it which is a lot more than we would have anticipated. Sure, for the same price you can purchase both the phone and the Laptop Dock (two-year contract still required) but it still sounds pretty expensive.
What Android phone will you buy? AT&T’s Atrix 4G or Verizon’s Thunderbolt?
