NewsCorp Looking To Sell MySpace

NewsCorps Desperately Wants To Get Rid Of MySpace

Despite the fact that the site has actually been making a subtle comeback when it comes to both popularity and revenue, NewsCorp is apparently still looking to dump the site as soon as possible. NewsCorp confirmed that they are looking for someone to purchase the site on Wednesday in a press release.

One of the reasons NewsCorp is wanting to get rid of MySpace is because of the popularity of Facebook. While MySpace was once one of the biggest social media sites on the web, Facebook surpassed MySpace a few years back and NewsCorp thought perhaps a cash infusion would lift the site.

In the midst of MySpace’s struggles, NewsCorp has tried several different tactics in order to try and save the site. There have been several layoffs in order to save money on salaries and in the fall of last year the site attempted a revamp that hasn’t really meant much in the traffic department.
