Android Gets 43% of Smartphone Sales in Past 6 Months
There’s no doubting that Android is on its way–or has reached–smartphone supremacy. A recent study by Nielsen has determined that Android got a 43% share in smartphones sales the past six months.

In a recent Nielsen wire blog post, mobile trends in the past year were outlined by the statistics company, where they published observations on smartphone use by ethnicity, age, and operating system share in the US. According to the study, Asians and Hispanics are most likely to own or buy smartphones, with White and African Americans trail behind.
In terms of brand market share, Android, iOS and Blackberry have tied at about 27 to 28 percent each. However, it’s a different story when it comes to recent smartphone acquisitions (past 6 months). New Android purchases have grown to 43% during that period, while Apple’s iOS is at 26%, and RIM’s Blackberry is at 20%. These trends mean that Android will soon overtake other Smartphone operating systems in terms of market share.
