T-Mobile Dell Streak 7 Officially Announced, Coming February 2nd For $199.99 [T-Mobile Gets Official With The 4G Capable Dell Streak 7 Android Tablet, Will Feature 7" Display, 16GB Internal Storage & $199.99 On-Contract Price Tag]
We have seen a fair amount of rumors regarding the Dell Streak 7 in the past, mostly dealing with the price and release date however as of today we now have the official information coming direct from T-Mobile.

Bottom line here, it looks like those who may have been holding out will be happy because the tablet will be available in just a few days time, on February 2nd, 2011. As in this Wednesday, which coincidentally is also known as the day when Google is going to have their Android 3.0 show going on. Of course, we should point out that the Streak 7 is not going to be running Android 3.0.
That aside though, as for the price — $199.99, which comes AFTER a $50 mail-in-rebate and along with a two-year agreement.
And to offer a quick recap on the specs for the Streak 7. First off, the device will be able to take advantage of the T-Mobile 4G network, which is nice, but lets move onto the not so nice, the display. The Streak 7 is going to have a 7 inch display, which is the same as the current top dog of Android tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but. And while some may argue one way or another, I would say this is a big but, the Streak 7 display is 800 x 480 as opposed to the Galaxy Tab at 1024 x 600. I guess it comes down to whether you want 4G or a better display.
Of course, on the flip side, the Galaxy Tab is still priced $50 higher. Moving on though, other specs for the Streak 7 include a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 16GB storage, microSD card slot, 1.3 megapixel camera and the Dell Stage user interface.
All said and done, while the display resolution does make for some potential second thoughts, I will say that the average consumer would likely not even realize. For one they probably would not even think to check, but second comes in with the fact that plenty of people shop mostly by price. Either way though, it is nice to see other Android tablets coming available so we can see some real challenges to the Galaxy Tab.
