HTC Thunderbolt to Feature Mobile Hotspot Says New Verizon Leaked Document [Verizon Changes Its Mind on HTC Thunderbolt Mobile Hotspot Feature at Launch; Confirms Simultaneous Voice & Data Over 3G Too]

Just earlier today we were following up on a story published on Sunday on the HTC Thunderbolt’s Mobile Hotspot feature at launch. At the time (earlier) we were looking at some pretty official-looking documents from Verizon that compared the 4G LTE phone with other Android devices and the iPhone 4 and basically told us that Mobile Hotspot is coming only later.

But now, only a few hours later, we have a new Verizon leak (and boy they really can’t prevent such screenshots from popping all over the web) that basically says the HTC Thunderbolt will offer Mobile Hotspot functionality at launch just as HTC and God intended.

The leaked screenshot has a timestamp too so it’s pretty clear we’re looking at something issued today for Verizon personnel.

As you can clearly see in the image below we’re looking at “HTC Thunderbolt Updates” regarding the “HTC Thunderbolt Mobile Hotspot App and Functionality.”

First up it’s the Mobile Hotspot feature and here’s what the document says:

Clarification: Great news the HTC Thunderbolt is Mobile Hotspot capable!

While it was previously communicated that the HTC Thunderbolt was not Mobile Hotspot capable, at launch, customers will in fact be able turn their HTC Thunderbolt into a wireless hotspot.

However Verizon doesn’t explain why it caused all the commotion regarding this feature.

Moving on to “HTC Thunderbolt 3G Simultaneous Voice and Data:”

There is functionality in the Thunderbolt that allows simultaneous voice and data on the VZW 3G network, however we cannot promise the experience will be one that is consistent with our brand. As a result, do not reference this functionality as a benefit during your conversations with customers.

That’s Verizon’s way of telling us that the HTC Thunderbolt’s simultaneous voice and data over 3G thing could be a little more annoying that we would have foreseen.

Now, that we put your mind at ease when it comes to the Mobile Hotpsot feature, what do you have to say about the questionable 3G simultaneous Verizon voice and data feature? I bet AT&T would have a thing or two to comment on that Verizon leaked training papers.
