Killzone 3 Developer Diary Previews Vicious Melee Kills
I don’t know about you, but when I play a FPS, I’m usually more satisfied when I dispatch an enemy using a melee attack than I am when I use a gun. Granted, this isn’t always the case – let’s be honest, blasting an enemy with a rocket launcher can be pretty damn satisfying too – but anyone can peg you from twenty feet away, whereas it takes skill to get in there and kill a fully armed enemy with your bare hands.

The developers of Killzone 3 seem to be taking the melee kill to a new, albeit very disturbing level. Their latest developer diary talks about the new ways to engage the Helghast in hand-to-hand combat: everything from punching your thumbs through their goggles to bashing their heads against a wall or a rail. The dev diary also previews some heavy weapons and their slide cover system, as well as discussing some technical stuff that no one really cares about. I don’t know, controls or something.
As a warning, this video shouldn’t be viewed by anyone who has a problem with seeing people be brutally, though creatively, murdered. Killzone 3 releases in North America on February 22nd, Europe on February 23rd, and the UK on February 25th.
