Sony Leaks Two New Cameras [Sony Cybershot HX100V and HX9V Leak Only Days Ahead Of Their Official Announcement]

I know, I know–seems like everything Sony for the last couple days has been all about the gaming. But Sony doesn’t just make games; they also handle a pretty sweet line of electronics, like their Cybershot line of digital cameras. And thankfully, we’ve got some leaked information about two of their newest, the Sony Cybershot HX100V and the Sony Cybershot HX9V.

It’s not much of a leak, mind you, seeing as how the official announcement on these two is set to hit February 2nd, but it’s a leak nonetheless and getting you advance information is no small thrill. Anyway, on to the story so far:

First, we’ve got the Cybershot DSC-HX9V, which is set to be a hefty 16 megapixel camera with a 16x optical zoom, three inch LCD screen, full HD video recording, a 3D Sweep Panorama mode and optical image stabilization. Plus, it has stereo audio recording capability, manual exposure control and even a pop up flash.

Meanwhile, the Cybershot DSC-HX100V is pretty similar to the HX9V, with the critical–and about the only, from what I can tell–difference that here the zoom goes all the way to 30x.

Naturally, there’s nothing about pricing yet, and there likely won’t be ahead of the official word on February 2nd, but this is a leak and a pretty good one at that. I don’t know about you, but I don’t usually see digital cameras–regular Cybershots, no less–that pack double-digit zoom capability. 2x, 4x, sure…but 16? 30? Not very often, that’s for sure. How will the prices look in relation to that terrific zoom range, I wonder? But I likely won’t have to wonder long–hopefully official word won’t be delayed in light of this leak, and we’ll be hearing about just where you can get these and for just how much in the very near future.

i’d grab one of these but image quality will be crap, as usual. a very nice oil painting some would say. i’ve seen photos done by older models. not impressed. this crowded pinhead sensor can’t be better no matter how fancy it sounds: BIONS, XMOR R, BICMOS…16.2mp = BS!
