Sony Ericsson to Implement Easy Single Sign On Facebook Login

New Sony Ericsson Devices to Feature Single Sign On Login for Applications via API

With the slew of online services you access both on computer and mobile, you might be tired of constantly keying in your username and password. Even with password-saving options, this can be bothersome if you’re using different phones.

With Facebook’s single sign on API, devices can now login to different applications with your Facebook credentials. Sony Ericsson will start implementing the Facebook single sign on mechanism on all its new Xperia phones. This should include the upcoming Xperia arc and Xperia play (also known as the PlayStation Phone), and possibly other models that are likely to be announced at the Mobile World Congress this March.

The system will work much like Facebook Connect on the web and on desktop computers, in which you can use your Facebook credentials to gain access to related applications and services. Assuming this works like Facebook Connect, users should not have to key in usernames and passwords as long as the device is logged in.
