HTC Thunderbolt Release Date Now Pegged for February 24; We Have Prices Too [HTC Thunderbolt to Cost $249, $329 or $599, On & Off Contract; to Launch Two Weeks After the Verizon iPhone 4]
The HTC Thunderbolt is one of the three most expected handsets of the beginning of the year, and these are, based on the buzz around them, the Verizon iPhone 4, the Motorola Atrix 4G and, naturally, HTC’s new flagship device that will do LTE for Verizon’s customers.

The Verizon iPhone 4 will be the first one to be launched, on February 10, and the Motorola Atrix 4G might very well be the second one to see stores via AT&T and other retailers a few days after the CDMA iPhone.
But today we’re going to focus on the Thunderbolt, this 4G LTE Android super smartphone heading to Big Red soon, as we have new release dates and pricing details for you.
Word on the street is that the Thunderbolt will see the light of day on February 24, exactly two weeks after the Verizon iPhone 4 will be available, and the HTC phone will have three pricing options:
- $249 with two-year new contracts, just as we heard before
- $329 with one-year new contracts
- $599 off contract
Like always these details might change by the end of February and we’re going to wait for Verizon to offer us a proper press release to back up all this information.
What’s interesting though, for current and future Verizon customers, is that they’ll have to quickly decide whether they want a subsidized iPhone 4 or HTC Thunderbolt. In case you consider purchasing the CDMA iPhone 4 to see how it handles your mobile needs, we’ll remind you that you have just 14 days to return it, or just enough time to test it out and then have it replaced with a HTC Thunderbolt when it comes out.
So let’s hear it from you, Verizon customers, what will you choose? The HTC Thunderbolt or the Verizon iPhone 4?
