RunKeeper Pro App To Remain Free
Fitness apps for smartphones are all the rage right now, and as someone who uses one regularly, I can say that rage is justified. Of course, there are numerous to choose from, however the one that I prefer is RunKeeper. Well, if you remember back to the end of last month, the RunKeeper team announced that the Pro app would be free for the month of January.

Given that, many would assume this post if to offer a warning that the month is almost over and you should download now. But instead, this post is coming with a little better news — the RunKeeper team have announced that RunKeeper Pro will remain free.
And for those considering RunKeeper, keep in mind that just because it has ‘run’ in the name — there is much more to the app. For example you can also set the exercise to be bicycling, walking or hiking as well as skiing, snowboarding, skating, wheelchair and a few others.
As for the app remaining free, aside from the “surpassed expectations” comment, it was also noted that they had ” been blown away by the response to this little promotion- millions of new users, lots of existing users making the upgrade and active usage on an ongoing basis more than double what it was before.”
In short, they are creating a rather large community at this point. But for those worried about the future of RunKeeper now that the (once $10) app is now free — worry not because there are still other ways to support RunKeeper.
For example, there are Fitness Classes available as well as the option of RunKeeper Elite. As for the latter, RunKeeper Elite, this will set you back either $4.99 on a monthly basis or $19.99 on a yearly basis and offers advanced fitness alerts, Races Live, RunKeeper Live, Advanced Fitness Reports and half-off of those previously mentioned Fitness Classes.
But aside from finding other ways to give your money to RunKeeper, grab your Android or iOS phone and download the RunKeeper Pro app and start using it.
