Hulu May Lose Some Free Fox & ABC Content, Begin To Look Towards Future Changes
Recent reports are beginning to paint a not so nice picture for Hulu. The details are suggesting that some of the free content may be going away and that Hulu is considering some changes in how they operate and while both the free and paid versions of Hulu are interesting — the future plans sound like they could shake things up a bit.

First things first, the losing of the content. According to the details given, some of the free content from Fox and Disney may go away. Of course, while that would be bad news for those using the free service that Hulu provides. And despite maybe not agreeing, on some level you can likely understand the argument — the network owners want to make more money on their content. In this case, it looks like they may begin offering more to Netflix as well as other competitors such as Apple and Microsoft.
As to what this means for Hulu as of now — nothing. In fact it seems most of this is just talk at this point. But as far as what could happen, or at least what is being discussed. According to the Wall Street Journal;
“Hulu management has discussed recasting Hulu as an online cable operator that would use the Web to send live TV channels and video-on-demand content to subscribers,”
Of course, nothing official here as this has only come from “people familiar with the talks.”
Furthermore, the new service, should this go forward, is described as being able to offer “budles of channels” in a manner similar to the current crop of cable and satellite providers. With that, there was also no mention as to what would happen with the current Hulu and Hulu Plus set up if this plan does proceed. Personally, it sounds interesting, but as a current Hulu Plus subscriber, I kind of like things the way they are. But as always, more content and more options will always be welcomed and if that means changes, then I guess those would be welcomed as well.
