AT&T Q4 2010 Quarterly Results Posted [AT&T Posts Q4 Financials, Activated 442k Tablets, Wireless Revenue Up 9.9% With Wireless Service Revenues Up 9.6%]

AT&T has officially posted their Q4 2010 quarterly results and things seem to be looking up. Of course, while most of the numbers were higher than last quarter or higher than the same quarter in the previous year, there was one that we could not help smile at — the 27.4 percent growth in terms of wireless data revenues.

Maybe something to do with ditching the unlimited data plans. But seriously, that is nothing more than some speculation on our behalf. Either way, things seem to be bright for AT&T.

Anyway, while people seem to be going one way or another with AT&T losing the iPhone exclusivity and considering this will be the last quarter they can report sales as that, lets begin with iPhone sales numbers. According to the numbers provided, AT&T activated 4.1 million iPhones during the fourth quarter. That said, without diving down the speculation trail here, lets just leave it at this — it will be interesting to see how the Q1 2011 numbers from AT&T (and Verizon) are reported in terms of iPhone activations.

Otherwise, AT&T seems proud of their tablet sales, which was described as being both “another strong tablet quarter” and “a new growth area.” But just how well did they do — 442,000 activations which come from a mix of the iPad and Android tablets. Still, it is important to note that these are “more than 90 percent” prepaid and while 442,000 is a big number that does not necessarily mean those users kept paying after the first month was over.

And lastly some of the other numbers that were announced by AT&T;

  • Consolidated revenues of $31.4 billion.
  • More than 2.8 million increase in total wireless subscribers with the total reaching 95.5 million subscribers in service.
  • A 9.9 percent growth in wireless revenues with a 9.6 percent growth in wireless service revenues.
  • A 2.8 million increase in total wireless subscribers.
  • A wireless churn rate of 1.32 percent.
  • A 246,000 net gain in U-Verse TV subscribers which brought the total number up to 3 million.
  • A 210,000 net gain in wireless broadband connections.
