The Social Network Nominated Oscar Best Picture
Who knew that a movie about how a social network grew from the bosom of the academic world will become this critically-acclaimed? The Social Network, which is a stylized account of Facebook’s development, has been nominated for eight Oscars no less.

After having won best picture at the recently-concluded Golden Globes, The Social Network is now contending with the best of the best, being nominated best picture at the 83rd Academy Awards. Aside from the top honors, the film also got nominations for best director, adapted screenplay, cinematography, film editing, sound mixing, original score, and best actor for Jesse Eisenberg, who plays Mark Zuckerberg.
The Social Network is one of today’s most talked-about film, given the popularity of Facebook around the world. However, even this fame did not merit the film being nominated for more categories in the 83rd Academy Awards. It has been outnumbered in terms of nominations by drama The King’s Speech with 12 nominations and Coen brothers’ western True Grit with 10.
The Social Network details how Facebook was formed, including the legal battles that ensued from the allegations that Mark Zuckerberg stole the idea from, and also management battles with co-founders as Facebook rose to fame.
