Verizon Wireless Adds Nearly 900,000 New Customers Last Quarter Who Will Not Be Able To Get The iPhone 4

Verizon Exceeds Analyst Expectation, Adds 872,000 New Customers Last Quarter

Sure, Verizon has lots of quality devices aside from the soon to be released iPhone, however that has been a rather large focus as of late. Granted, that is most likely due to the news being the ending of a rather long rumor, but at the same time, Verizon’s most recent quarterly report shows nearly 900,000 users who will not be able to get the iPhone anytime soon.

Yup, thanks to the no early upgrade policy, many of the recent sign-ups will be waiting a few more years till their contracts expire. Of course, there was the exception for those who upgraded recently. That aside though, it seems that not as many people were coming to Verizon with the sole intention of getting an iPhone. So with that, lets shift focus away from the iPhone and back to the quarterly report — according to analyst estimates Verizon was up and down.

As for those new customers, they totaled 872,000, which comes in way above the analyst estimates of 646,000. So far so good, however Verizon fell just short in terms of the average earnings estimate. The analysts were calling for 55 cents per share and Verizon came in at 54 cents per share. Furthermore, according to the rest of the numbers, the profit rose to $4.65 billion which is up from a profit of $2.37 billion from the same quarter during the previous year.

Otherwise, in terms of FiOS Internet, that brought Verizon a total of 197,000 new customers with FiOS TV bringing in a total of 182,000 new customers. And for those wondering, both of those numbers were above analyst expectations.

With that, while we have already determined that people want more than the iPhone with Verizon, it should be interesting to see what the numbers look like after this next quarter is over and see how many people come aboard once the iPhone is actually available.
