HTC Flyer Android Tablet Gets Leaked; Coming at MWC 2011? [HTC’s First Android Tablet Specs & Features Now Rumored; The Flyer Ready to Fly?]
The HTC Flyer is an upcoming Android tablet that’s going to be announced probably during MWC 2011. Sure it has a strange name but the Flyer is probably getting ready to fly out of HTC’s nest in a few weeks from now, as soon as the MWC show gets underway in Barcelona, Spain and we don’t really care what the manufacturer will call it.

We have no idea whether the specs and features leaked today portray the real thing, but it’s our job to show them to you. The HTC Flyer appears to be a 7-inch device that will compete against the Galaxy Tab (a similar sized tablet) but also against the Xoom, and, most importantly, against the iPad family, the original iPad and the iPad 2.
Here are the specs and features of the Flyers, at least according to this week’s leak:
• 7-inch screen with 1,024 x 600 resolution
• A Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor (similar to the one on the HTC Desire HD)
• HDMI and DLNA support
• 5 MP rear camera with LED flash and face recognition, 1.3MP front-facing camera
• Skype video calling
• GSM radios: 14.4Mbps HSUPA / 5.76Mbps HSDPA
• Android 2.3 Gingerbread (probably upgradeable to Honeycomb)
• Modified HTC Sense-like custom UI on top of Android
Some of the specifications and features above definitely fall into place quite nicely but we’d surely love HTC to include a dual-core processor in the Flyer, considering that that’s what the Xoom or the BlackBerry PlayBook will pack and that’s the kind of processor expected from the iPad 2 also.
We’ll be reporting back on the Flyer as soon as we have more information ourselves, but hopefully HTC will launch this baby by MWC and send it to retailers in the coming months. Anyone particularly excited about the HTC Flyer or are you going to go for an Apple or Motorola tablet instead?
