Google Introduces Cloud Print For Smartphones
After opening their cloud printing service to Chrome notebook pilot program users last month, Google has officially expanded the service once again, announcing today that they’re launching Cloud Print beta for both mobile documents and Gmail for mobile. Google says that the feature will be available to users in the US beginning today and tomorrow and will work with most phones that support HTML5.

Printing a document from your smartphone is pretty straightforward – you simply need to open a document in Google Docs or an email in Gmail for mobile and select “Print” from the dropdown menu. The document will then be sent to your printer, provided you’ve connected it to Google Cloud Print – something that only Windows PCs are capable of at the moment, but support for Mac and Linux is on the way.
The picture they paint is one that makes it seem like you can’t live without it, too: “Imagine printing an important document from your smartphone on the way to work and finding the printout waiting for you when you walk in the door…”
Of course, you could always use it for less practical purposes, like making sure you have a few paper copies of your reminder to pick up your helicopter from the shop or paint some waterlilies, like the user in the photo above.
