Dead Space 2 DLC Announced, Dead Space Girl Coming Back [Just Hours After Release, EA Lets World Know About DLC Pack Titled "Severed", Cover Girl Returning From Wii Port]
In case you didn’t know, game developers are now planning for DLC in the initial planning stages of a game. I know that won’t be a shock to most of you, but for the rest, don’t be surprised now that EA is announcing Dead Space 2 DLC on the day the game came out. The first DLC pack is titled “Severed” and it will be focused on single-player, including the return of a *ahem* noted character in Dead Space lore.

Severed will feature two standalone story chapters that will extend the Dead Space 2 story. From the sounds of it, it looks like they’ll be independent bits where you don’t play as the main game’s hero – Isaac Clarke. Two previous Dead Space characters will return – Gabe Weller and Lexine Murdoch. If you’re like me, all you remember from the first Dead Space is running, screaming, shooting and that gross monster in the engine room bit. But, you may remember Lexine as the “Dead Space Girl.”
2009′s crappy Dead Space Wii game, titled “Dead Space: Extraction”, featured a very – uh – lively cover (seen above) with a woman screaming and trying to fend off some unseen monster. Her very memorial facial express became a meme on a few sites, including gaming blog Joystiq – who’s undoubtedly glad to see Lexine return to the Dead Space mythos, even though she’ll probably die.
Dead Space 2: Severed is set to come out “soon” and has been announced for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Nothing for the PC, yet – or a price.
Anyway, Dead Space 2 is out today. Are you excited? Did you pick it up? Tell us what you think in the comments.
