World Of Starcraft Modder Gets Riot Games Job Offer After Activision C&D
I guess there are some heartwarming stories left out there in the game industry amid news of studio closures and outright plagiarism. You may remember there was a young (I assume) man (again with the assuming) out there who had posted a Youtube video of his “World Of Starcraft” Starcraft 2 game mod, only to have Activision-Blizzard’s lawyers do that whole swooping in with the cease and desist letter in their talons thing.

However, that video was enough to prompt Riot Games’ Tod Caldwell into offering the self-proclaimed “Ryan” a job with the League Of Legends studio. “When I see a modder with a lot of drive that has done something cool, I tend to contact them,” Cadwell said. “I shot him an email recently asking if he was interested in exploring an opportunity here. As to what comes of that, who knows – that depends on the mutual fit and his own goals.” Hearty congratulations to everyone involved, this pretty much made my day and I can only imagine what it did for Ryan’s.
