Motorola Xoom & HTC Thunderbolt Prices Leaked Ahead of Official Release Date
The Motorola Xoom and the HTC Thunderbolt are two hot Android devices that have been announced at CES 2011 and will hit stores in the near future. We’re looking at an Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet and at an Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone that will be among the main competitors of the iPad 2 and iPhone 5, respectively, not to mention they’re both going to pack 4G LTE capabilities.

Earlier today we’ve seen estimated release dates for both the HTC Thunderbolt and the Motorola Zoom, set for February 14 for each, and now, a few hours later, we have leaked pricing details for you. These pricing details aren’t official either, but we’ll have plenty of time to confirm them in the following months.

Today’s leak shows us minimum advertised pricing details for these two devices (see leaked spreasheet above) as follows: the HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE smartphone will cost at least $249.99, and we assume that’s the subsidized price we’re looking at while the Motorola Xoom tablet will cost $799.99, and that’s probably the unsubsidized price right here. These minimum advertised prices for the two smartphones will be available from January 21 to July 21, 2011, but things might change by the time they hit stores.

We’ll notice that the Thunderbolt is, at least for now, $50 more expensive than the usual premium smartphone sold with a contract by U.S. carriers, while the Xoom is, considering what it will have to offer under the hood, on par, or even cheaper, than the most expensive iPad currently sold by Apple and its partners. We’ll just have to sit tight and wait for the official Verizon release date announcement for these two devices before we can tell you whether breaking the piggy bank is needed or not.
Let us hear your comments on the numbers mentioned above! What are you willing to pay for the HTC Thunderbolt and/or the Motorola Xoom.

I’d love a xoom, but only for it’s honeycomb goodness – if moto blur it it’s doa for me.
it could be 10x the price of he ipad and I still wouldn’t buy one, however 799 does seem to be v.steep, I’d happily put off the purchase for a month or 2 to wait for the inevitable price drop (ala the galaxy tab) or competitors to release something more competitive.
come on moto: offer blur as an option and drop the price by 200 and you’d dominate the android tablet market for the next 2-3 years.
If the Thunderbolt ships with a 32 gb micro sd card installed, than the cost is really only $150 so it seems like a steal to me.
Confirmed… Thunderbolt release date is Feb 14.
Pricing not yet confirmed.
