Eric Schmidt Not Happy With Google’s Co-Founders After China Issue?

Eric Schmidt Now Said He Really Wanted Out Ever Since Google Left China, Which Wasn’t His Decision but Larry Page’s & Sergey Brin’s]

The truth is that, no matter what the presses will write, we’ll never know what really happened between Google’s main men. On one hand we have the creators of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and on the other hand we have Eric Schmidt, also a brilliant man, that helped Google turn into what it is today. And they all took an active role in leading Google although Eric Schmidt has been acting CEO for the last 10 years.

Together with Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt is definitely one of the most important figures of the last decade when it comes to the way we use and envision modern technology from computers and smartphones to the Internet. We might not fully agree with some of his past comments, previous Google failures and “Do Evil!” proofs, but he certainly was the man for the job. And then again it’s not like we’ll agree with all the other crap the rest of the CEOs have to put on display while defending the honor of their companies and bragging about the superiority of their products.

A recent article published in the New Yorker reveals some interesting details about the Google triumvirate, a strange leadership model, which came crashing down yesterday. It seems that Eric Schmidt wasn’t exactly thrilled with the way things were ran at Google, and he’s now said to having been especially annoyed by Larry Page’s and Sergey Brin’s decision to leave China last year after the whole cyberwar that went on. Combine that with a bunch of Google failures, and you’d have plenty of reasons to step down / get fired:

Was Eric Schmidt pushed or did he jump? Both. According to close advisors, the Google C.E.O. was upset a year ago when co-founder Larry Page sided with his founding partner, Sergey Brin, to withdraw censored searches from China. Schmidt did not hide his belief that Google should stay in the world’s largest consumer marketplace. It was an indication of the nature of the relationship Schmidt had with the founders that he—as Brian Cashman of the Yankees did this week—acknowledged that the decision was made above his head.

We can only wish Larry Page good luck as he’s going to have to live up to Eric Schimdt’s performance as a CEO and, why not, offer Google users and fans an even better Google experience, and I don’t mean just search, but the whole package.

As for Eric Schmidt, it will be interesting to see what he’s going to do next. Maybe someone over at Microsoft should consider giving him a job as CEO at some point in the future.
