Angry Birds' Next Holiday Special Edition? Valentine's Day
Man, when they said love was a battlefield, they weren’t kidding. Of course, I kind of doubt even they were expecting love to involve a battlefield of MIRV-capable canaries (at least I think they’re canaries), among others, and pigs in fortresses. But that’s exactly what we’ll be getting with the next installment of Angry Birds, a Valentine’s Day-themed battle royale.
We’ve already seen the birds take on Halloween, and Christmas, so it’s not exactly a surprise to see the birds show up and take on Valentine’s Day. After all, I was seeing Valentine displays in stores about a week after Christmas anyway, so why not segue into that next big holiday?
Though details about gameplay are a bit sketchy–quite possibly because they won’t be significantly altered from any other installment of Angry Birds–the screenshot making the rounds shows off a whole lot of pink, and at least one female pig, as denoted by the big bow on top of her round little head / body.
Not a bad idea, really, though I’d hope for some more differences; if there’s a Fourth of July version to show up this June and it doesn’t involve explosions I’m going to be deeply, deeply perturbed. Still though, people like Angry Birds, as is evident from the sheer number of versions this thing’s packing, not to mention the wide array of side projects it’s looking at (I’ve heard about Lego versions, plush toys, and even some odd stirrings of an animated series which would be perfect for G4 as they haven’t had a decent cartoon since, well, ever if you don’t count Code Monkeys, and most people don’t).
The Valentine’s Day themed edition of Angry Birds should probably be available for download pretty soon, as Valentine’s Day itself is about three weeks out. So if you can’t get enough Angry Birds, be ready for this one to get a little more bird-chucking, pig-crashing fun into your life.
