New iPad 2 Dual Camera Confirmation: FaceTime, Photo Booth & Social Features in iOS 4.3 beta 2
Something we kept telling you over and over and then over and over again that Apple simply has to include cameras in the next-generation iPad. And we’ve shown you various evidence to prove that fact but that doesn’t mean we can’t show you even more proof today, which is coming hot off the presses.

Today we’re looking at iOS 4.3 beta 2, which was recently made available to developers, or basically, to anyone willing to pay the $99/year developer program fee in order to be among the first people testing each new iOS out. Inside it there are solid proofs that points to two iPad 2 cameras and we like to call them, generally, apps. That’s right, the new iPad 2 will come with preloaded apps like FaceTime, Photo Booth but also social networking photo-related features like Photo Streams or Media Streams.
As you can see in the image above we’re looking at FaceTime, Camera and Photo Booth icons right on top of the home screen of the iPad 2, so we can finally consider our cameras-for-iPad-2 case closed once and for all.
Those of you still not convinced whether or not Apple will include two cameras on the next-gen tablet will be reminded that Apple has not one, but two solid reasons of doing so.
First of all there’s the competition, “bizarre” or “vapor” as they may be, Android tablets, and not only, come with dual cameras on board. That would certainly force Apple’s hand to include dual-cameras support in its iPad 2 even if the company wouldn’t want to do it.
But dual-cameras is something FaceTime needs. Apple launched FaceTime, it’s homebrew turned open-source video chat services with the iPhone 4 and then extended the feature to the iPod touch 4G and all the Macs out there. The iPad 2, which will be bringing in trucks of cash to Apple’s billion dollar cash reserve, can’t miss on the FaceTime action either, and that app requires two cameras.
So yes, potential iPad 2 buyers, the tablet is coming with two cameras on board and that’s one of the features we’re pretty damn sure about.
