Activision May Shut Down PS3 Black Ops Servers
It isn’t any secret that owners of the PS3 version of Black Ops aren’t happy – players have been complaining about the game’s connection issues (among other things) since pretty much the day it with released, with nearly 20,000 going as far as signing a petition that demands their money back. Now, independent journalist Jason Koblovsky, who has been in touch with Activision support concerning these connection issues, says that Activision may be planning to pull the plug on the PS3 version’s servers.

Here’s the response that Koblovsky said he received from an Activision support staff member:
Well I have nothing else to offer and I too follow forums and have many friends who play and enjoy the game for all of its features. As an avid gamer, I would also disagree with any legalities involving a single aspect of a game as online experience may change at any time. The publishers have the right to shut down the servers for their game at any time as well which based on the number of reported posts from users may be a viable solution over the free PSN.
Of course, shutting down the servers is a very drastic move, and one has to wonder why they’d consider doing that when they could just develop a fix for it. There’s no word on whether these sentiments are shared by Activision as a company, but if shutting down the servers is anywhere close to a possibility, it’s safe to assume that those who signed the petition will only be pissed off even more.
