HP Palm webOS Tablets, More Rumored Details
Many already realize that HP has a press event scheduled for February 9th, and it has all but been confirmed that they are going to be announcing at least one webOS based tablet. Of course, many are assuming there will be two tablets, but that aside, the details seem to be leaking out and also shaping up nicely.

First things first, the details that are leaking out are nothing more than rumor at this point. Granted, they do seem believable, however until February 9th we are going to have to remain skeptical. Anyway, as for the two tablets, those are expected to be the Opal and Topaz which are going to feature 7 inch and 9 inch displays respectively. At this time the resolution for the Opal is expected to be 1024 x 768. As for the Topaz, that is not quite as clear and still needs to be revealed.
Moving on and getting into size. According to the details given so far, the Opal will be 180 x 144 x 13 mm and the Topaz will be 241 x 190 x 13. And for those looking to make the obvious comparison with the iPad, that is 242.8 x 189.7 x 13.4 mm. And for those into Android, the Galaxy Tab measures in at 190.1 x 120.5 x 12 mm.
With size out of the way, other perks will come in with Beats Audio for sound that both models will offer an available charging option that is said to be similar to the current Palm Touchstone charging docks.
Otherwise, the other details include the ability to forward calls and texts from phone to tablet, support for Flash, true multitasking, “exhibition” style features when docked and something called “Tap-To-Share” which is described as allowing “users easily transfer a website, document, or song from the phone to the tablet (or vice versa) simply by tapping the two devices together.”
And lastly, the cloud. It is expected that both devices will take full advantage of cloud based storage, especially in terms of items such as music. Otherwise, things seem to be shaping up nicely, though even as a Palm and webOS fan I have to think that even with nice hardware and nice features these are going to fall by the wayside because people want apps — and lets face it — while decent, the App Catalog is lacking compared to Apple and Android.
