Sony's PS3 Hacking Case Against GeoHot Delayed By Jurisdiction Concerns

George Hotz Case Delayed By Sony's Overblown Jurisdiction Claims

Sony, you need to stop walking under ladders or something, this is getting embarrassing. First you get your security busted and your Trophies vandalized, then the young upstart disrespects you during his victory lap. You need to get even to get your cred back, but rushing into things isn’t helping anybody. Sony have apparently tried to justify why they filed the trial in California by pointing out that YouTube, Twitter and PayPal, all of which services George Hotz has used are based there.

We’ll just let the judge explain this one. “If having a PayPal account were enough, then there would be personal jurisdiction in this court over everybody, and that just can’t be right,” judge Susan Illston said. The “Well, duh!” she added afterward was stricken from the court record for some reason. Looks like that good old Internet scrubbing will just have to wait and the George Hotz picture on Sony’s wall will be accumulating a few more darts in the meantime.
