Sony Hints At Possibility Of Everquest 3 Coming To PS3
Typically, releasing a MMO on a console is a risky idea. While MMOs have become a staple PC gaming, the genre just doesn’t work as well on consoles. Sony Online Entertainment seems to be trying to change that, though – DC Universe Online has already released for PS3, and games like The Agency, Free Realms and the next Planetside title are heading there in the future. Now, SOE has hinted to Eurogamer that the next Everquest game may be heading to their home console as well.

When asked if the game, which is currently under the working title of Everquest Next, would be coming to PS3, SOE president John Smedley said, “Can’t comment on that. All I can say is we are a Sony company, and we are very, very proud of the work we’ve done on DC Universe Online, which is multi-platform; and we are very, very proud of the work we have done on The Agency, which is multi-platform.”
So, while it isn’t a confirmation, it isn’t a flat out denial either. Considering SOE wants to make a number of upcoming MMOs multi-platform releases, it would appear that the chances we’ll see the next Everquest title on PS3 are good.

Meh. I think it’s a ‘wait-and-see’ until SoE finds out how DC Online is going to do first.
