Vertu Ascent Ferrari GT Phone Puts Out Unnecessary Luxury

Vertu And Ferrari Bring Out Another Hugely Priced Phone For No Clear Reason

You’ve got to hand it to the crew out at Vertu–they can really make a good looking phone. Sure, in terms of sheer function it gets blown out of the water by quite a few different phones, but when it comes to looks and downright opulence, they’re in a class all their own right alongside Stuart Hughes. And today we’ve got a look at the Ascent Ferrari GT, another one of their unnecessarily opulent phones.

We haven’t heard much out of Vertu lately–I kind of doubt they showed up at CES–but they’re back in and working with Ferrari this time to put together the Ascent Ferrari GT. It’s packing a two inch QVGA sapphire crystal display, quadband 3G, a five megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a variety of Vertu-specific content features like their web backup service, support for a variety of languages, a 1500 entry phone book, a web browser, and for the outside, a forged titanium outer casing and hand-stitched leather throughout. They actually offer a whole tutorial on how to care for your Ascent Ferrari GT out on their site.

You can probably see what I mean right off–it’s not exactly real long on features but then, chances are, if you were going to shell out the kind of cash generally required for a Vertu anyway, you’re probably not that concerned about how many apps you can fit on it. Doubly so since the Vertu Ascent Ferrari GT is set to be a limited release of just 2011 copies.

And this brings us to pricing, which isn’t really being announced very hard in what is most likely one of those “if you have to ask you can’t afford it” sort of scenarios. But still, there’s likely a place within a couple hours of where you are that stocks these–the United States alone had maybe 50 listings of stores available in most major cities (or their suburbs, anyway; there’s no Vertu outlet in Detroit, for example, but there is one in Troy)–so you should be able to find one somewhere.
