New iPad 2 & iPhone 5 Versions Revealed by iOS 4.3 SDK

As you already know Apple has released the iOS 4.3 SDK beta and the new iOS version has already revealed plenty of new features for the current and future iPhone, iPad and iPod touch generations.

Among those new features there are also new references to the next iPhone and iPad generations, the iPhone 5 and the iPad 2, respectively.

As the screenshot above suggests we’re looking at three new iPhone versions, and three new iPad models for the near future.

First off is the iPhone 3,3 that’s pretty puzzling. Currently we have in the wild the iPhone 3.1 (AT&T’s iPhone 4) and the iPhone 3.2 (Verizon’s iPhone 4) so what’s the iPhone 3,3? Is it a Sprint or T-Mobile iPhone version? Or are we looking at a CDMA iPhone for China and/or India?

Moving on to the iPhone 4,1 and iPhone 4,2, we can only assume we’re looking at the AT&T and Verizon iPhone 5 which is probably expected to hit the market in summer 2011. And while an iPhone 3,3 has been spotted, what happens to the iPhone 4,3?

The new iPad 2 is also featured in iOS 4.3. We have three new iPads coming out this year, the iPad 2,1, the iPad 2,2 and the iPad 2,3. That means we’re probably looking at a GSM, CDMA and Wi-Fi next-gen iPads which will most likely be unveiled by the end of the month.

This isn’t the first time iOS reveals new iPhone, iPod and iPad internal codes and we’re really not surprised to see them either. Apple will certainly not explain them in the near future, and we’ll have to wait for these newly revealed devices to become official before we talk specs and features.
