New CDMA iPad 2 to Follow Verizon iPhone 4

Now that the cat is officially out of the bag and Apple has finally did the unthinkable and brought the CDMA iPhone 4 to Verizon Wireless it looks that another important Apple mobile product is going to get CDMA support right out of the box, the next Apple tablet, the iPad 2.

This is not the first time we hear the tablet is coming to Verizon with support for its 3G radio and this time it’s not just a simple next-gen iPad rumor to check out and forget by the end of the day. Today we’re looking at an actual piece of confirmed news, as reported by Bloomberg. According to Verizon’s Francis Shammo, the chief financial officer “Verizon will get an embedded chip on the iPad for use on its network.”

We have no estimate on that iPad 2 arrival and we’re yet to receive word from Apple on when the product will actually be announced. Word on the street is that Apple will host a special media event at the end of January, in which the iPad 2 will be announced, while the tablet itself will be launched in stores at some point down the road, possible in April, just like its predecessors.

We have no idea whether Verizon will sell the CDMA iPad 2 in its stores right from the start so we’ll just have to wait for Apple to make it all official.

As you might already be aware of, both AT&T and Apple are selling the have been selling for a couple of months now, but Big Red is binding the Wi-Fi tablet version with a MiFi solution in order for its customers to be able to use the device while on the go. In comparison AT&T sells the iPad 3G with its special no-contract iPad data plans, which is something we could see Verizon do come this April.
