New iPad 2 Tablet Announcement Coming on February 1; Release Date Still April?
Every once in a while Digg founder Kevin Rose has details on the upcoming Apple products and it seems that he knows a thing or two about the upcoming iPad 2 tablet from Apple.

According to him Apple will announce the next-gen device at a special event in 3-4 weeks from now and he even proposes a date for the media event: Tuesday, February 1.
Last year the first iPad, probably the device of the past year according to various people, and a gadget that reinvented the tablet, was announced in a much expected special press event hosted by Apple on its own turf on January 27. Now, however it looks like Apple will announce the next-gen device in February, and we’re most likely looking at an April release date, just like in 2010.
Kevin Rose went further to mention a few features of the device: Retina Display, just like the iPhone 4’s panel, and front and back camera, which is something we all expect for Apple to do in order to match the competition, and, most importantly, to bring FaceTime video chat capabilities to a very popular device. Here’s what Kevin Rose said initially:
From: Kevin Rose (Foundation Newsletter)
I have it on good authority that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next “3-4 weeks”, possibly Tuesday February 1st. The iPad 2 will feature a retina display and front/back cameras. If you’re thinking of buying an iPad, hold off for now.
Kevin
Then he updated he information as he received news from a different source that said the iPad 2 is not coming with a Retina Display after all but a the tablet will offer a higher resolution.
UPDATE: Spoke w/another source, the display has a “higher dpi”, but not technically a retina display. This seems odd to me, we’ll have to wait and see…
We’ll be certainly be here to update you on the iPad 2 launch event and its release, and we’ll confirm or deny all of the above, so stick around, follow us on Twitter and remember to subscribe to TFTS as instructed below!
