CES 2011: Steve Ballmer Says Kinect Will Have Official PC Support At "Right Time"

Kinect PC Support Announced By Microsoft, Time Frame Not Decided

One wonders why this news wasn’t part of the keynote and just casually dropped in an interview, since judging by all the hacks and whatnot, enthusiasm for PC Kinect support is riding high to say the least, but yes, apparently Kinect support for PC is a given, it’s now just a question of timing. Or what Steve Ballmer considers the right timing.

Other choice remarks from the interview see Steve Ballmer sticking up for the PC and the web when the interviewer starts getting a bit too comfortable listing Apple’s inroads into the personal computing experience with its iPad and iPhone by reminding him Windows and the Web are still the world’s largest application ecosystems. We even thought we saw a wince there when Apple is first mentioned. As for Kinect, his exact words were the Kinect “will support that in a formal way in the right time”, that meaning a PC connection. Can’t get much clearer.
