CES 2011: Pixel Qi Transflective 7-Inch Screens Show Some Skin On CES Floor

Pixel Qi Also Working on 9.7 Incher For Tablet Use

We’ve been keeping our eye on Pixel Qi ever since they broke from the OLPC project to pursue their transflective LCD screen technology, the same one that powers the greatly anticipated Notion Ink. And at CES they also took the time to show the press their diminutive 7-inch screens that allow you to frolic in the sun while consuming content, on account of that whole turn off the LCD backlight and the screen is perfectly crisp and clear thing.

Judging from what we’ve heard, the Pixel Qi fitted on the Notion Ink that’s been doing the rounds at CES was all sorts of impressive, effectively cementing its reputation as an E-Ink alternative with all of the advantages and none of the setbacks. Not only that, but according to Pixel Qi founder Mary Lou Jepsen, they’ve also managed to overcome the teething production problems, especially after increased demand driven by iPad mania.
