CES 2011 Live: Compaq CQ10-688 and HP Pavilion dm1-3010 Show At Verizon Press Conference
It was a huge day for Verizon, as a pair of new laptops join the fray from the announcements out at Verizon’s big press conference. If you’re any kind of road warrior–that is, you like to take your work with you when you travel, not that you like to wear football pads with spikes on them and shoot at bikers–then you’re going to be welcoming this news about as hard as I am.
First out of the gate, we’ve got the Compaq CQ10-688, which will offer up a 10.1 inch widescreen LCD display, as well as an Intel Atom N455 processr, digital media card reader, a webcam of undisclosed resolution, a variety of connectivity options (likely USB and HDMI will be represented here) and a surprisingly long battery life of 8.5 hours on a single charge.
Second up is the HP Pavilion dm1-3010, an 11.6 inch laptop with HP CoolSense technology (it’ll actually tell when you’re using your laptop, and adjust the cooling systems accordingly, ensuring you get the most cooling when you’re using it the hardest), 1080p video display, a full size keyboard (island-style, too!) VISION technology from the folks out at AMD, a 320 gig hard drive, digital media card reader, HDMI port (for viewing on a larger screen), Dolby Advanced Audio systems, GPS capability, and a battery boasting fully 10.75 hours of life on a single charge.
It’s kind of a mixed bag, really: that Compaq doesn’t sound like anything all that great from here, but the HP Pavilion definitely has my attention. No word on prices and release dates yet–this is probably the earliest stage of news we can get at this point–so we’ll pass it on when we get some more out of this.
