CES 2011: Motorola Atrix 4G (Olympus) Android Smartphone Gets Official; Thinks It’s a Laptop From Time to Time
It is the Olympus, isn’t it? You know, the Motorola Atrix 4G, “the world’s most powerful smartphone” has been unveiled at AT&T’s CES 2011 Developers Summit. The phone looks just like the Olympus, that powerful Android device previously known as the Droid Terminator, that’s supposed to hit AT&T soon.

The Atrix 4G joins the HTC Inspire and Samsung Infuse, two other powerful 4G Android handsets announced today by AT&T, but this smartphone will come with certain features the other two devices won’t be able to offer.
But before we get there let’s look at some specs and features:
- Dual-core Tegra 2 1GHz processor
- 4-inch qHD display
- 1GB of RAM
- 16GB of storage space
- 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and HD video recording
- front-facing camera for video chat
- 1,930mAh battery
- Android 2.2 Froyo with Motoblur on top
- Webtop and media dock.
We are indeed looking at a monster phone but this Motorola Atrix 4G will not only work as a smartphone as it will also be able to power up a full-fledged laptop thanks to that Webtop laptop dock we mentioned above.
What you have to do is dock the Atrix 4G into the Webtop (which is basically a laptop dock that offers a full QWERTY keyboard and a monitor) and you’ll have a laptop to play with. Thanks to the Motorola Webtop application you’ll get access to the keyboard and even the mouse not to mention an 11.6-inch display that will help you browse the web using regular Internet browsers. And yes, Flash is included. The Webtop will also offer you two USB ports and will act as your own Android notebook/netbook. What could you wish for more?
The Motorola HD dock will let you dock the Atrix 4G in landscape view and enjoy your favorite media while on the go, although, I must say, the Motorola Laptop Dock is what we’re really interested in!
We have no pricing details for you at this point for the smartphone, laptop and hd docks, but we do know the Atrix is an exclusive AT&T device hitting stores in Q1 2011. So stay tuned for more CES 2011 coverage, and subscribe to our feed for more Atrix details!
