CES 2011: Asus Eee Slate EP121 12-inch Windows 7 Tablet Not Too Scary for the iPad 2
Following the Asus Eee Pad MeMO Android tablet, which was just announced we now have a Windows 7 tablet ready to take on the iPad 2 and everyone else that stands in its way, the Eee Slate EP121. At least that’s what we hope this Slate will be able to offer Windows 7 fans since they could certainly use a Windows 7 tablet for both business and leisure.

The Eee Slate EP121 is a bigger tablet than the MeMO and at 12.1-inch is bigger than the iPad too. We’ll be concerned about battery life from the start though but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Besides the 12.1-inch 1,280 x 800 IPS LCD panel, we’re looking at an Intel Core i5-470UM processor, 64GB SSD, 4GB of RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium running under the hood.
All you need to do is add a proper QWERTY keyboard and you’ll end up with a regular notebook here, and a pretty powerful one too. And yes, there’s a stylus, but maybe Windows 7 really needs a stylus on tablets after all.
The Eee Slate EP121 is really ready to take on the iPad and the upcoming iPad 2 and will start selling in January with prices starting at $999 and going up all the way to $1,099. The Eee Slate EP121 does look a lot better than the HP Slate, at least on paper, so let’s see how the device will perform in the streets!
