PS3 Root Key Reportedly Posted By GeoHot, iPhone & Original PS3 Hacker
Yes, this hoopla is still going strong. Or rather, a different hoopla, but rather close to the original one. It’s not exactly clear yet whether famed iPhone and original PS3 hacker GeoHot is involved in the recent PS3 hack authored by team fail0verflow, but he’s claiming to have posted the PS3′s METLDR root key and knowing the guy’s reputation, we’re inclined to believe him.

He was careful to mention that “I do not condone piracy,” because really, what hacker ever does? He went on to flog his talents to the very people he is now leaving, well not destitute, but slightly less wealthy, by suggesting that he could aid in securing their systems if they’d like. Well, we’re in a recession after all, what do you expect? “It’d be fun to be on the other side,” he said. We’re thinking they’d just settle for him stopping with the hacking.
