New 7-inch HTC Scribe Honeycomb Tablet to be Unveiled at MWC 2011 Not CES

HTC’s First Android Tablet, the Scribe, Coming Out in Barcelona This February; It Probably Doesn’t Like Las Vegas

CES 2011 is going to bring us a ton of great gadget and tech concepts that will be available to the public later this year, but what we won’t get to see yet is HTC’s first Android tablet, the HTC Scribe.

We first talked about the device a few days ago when the name of this new HTC product has been mentioned first. In the mean time a new report coming from Digitimes is saying that HTC will only want to unveil the Scribe at the Mobile World Congress that is scheduled for February 14-17 in Barcelona.

HTC will not have its own booth at CES 2011 apparently, but we already know that at least a couple of HTC Android devices will be unveiled in Las Vegas, the HTC Thunderbolt 4G, an LTE handset headed for Verizon, which is referred to as the HTC Droid Incredible HD by Digitimes, and the HTC EVO Shift 4G (a T-Mobile G2 or HTC Desire Z version), a WiMAX handset that will hit Sprint at some point later down the road.

The HTC Scribe will apparently be officially presented in February and we can expect it to be a 7-inch device, just like the Galaxy Tab. But unlike the Samsung Tablet the Scribe will come with Honeycomb on board, or Android 3.0, as Digitimes suggests, right out of the box.

CES 2011 will bring us the first Honeycomb tablet in the world, and that’s going to be the Motorola Xoom, already demoed by Andy Rubin and teased by Moto in the past month. Following CES 2011 we’ll probably have Apple announce its next-gen tablet, the iPad 2, at a special media event scheduled for late January. So HTC is apparently waiting for Moto and Apple to unveil their tablet plans for 2011 before the Scribe can come out of hiding. We’ll be back with as many details about the Scribe as possible, but in the mean time stay tuned for lots of live CES 2011 coverage.
