Best iPhone & iPad App Store Apps to Bring In $2 Billion in 2011

Apple to Cash in $2 Billion Off the App Store in 2011 According to Citibank

The fact that the App Store is a gold mine for Apple and iOS developers is not a secret anymore. What started like a fun idea, turned out to be a must-have feature for any smartphone platform. Soon everyone followed suit although Apple did maintain an impressive lead when it comes to smartphone apps.

The App Store was then extended to the iPod touch and the iPad as those devices ran the same software as the iPhone. In fact Apple decided to take everything to the next level and launch a Mac App Store too, although today we’re going to talk about the iOS App Store.

2011 seems to be a great year for the App Store, and Apple, and its iOS developers, are going to cash in big time on those apps. According to Citibank, Apple will get $2 billion in gross revenue this year off the App Store. The brightest developers out there responsible for some of the best iPhone and iPad applications will have a great year which will hopefully motivate them to create even more content for the iOS universe, and not only.

Apple’s App Store is still the biggest smartphone app store available to the crowds with the Android Market in second place, but if iPhone and iPad apps will bring in huge chunks of cash in 2011 we can only expect that some of the best Android apps out there will also provide some serious income to their developers. In fact if you plan on developing a great iOS and/or Android app, then, by all means, let us know about it!

On the other hand Citibank is only presenting estimates at this point so we’ll definitely be back with more details about Apple’s App Store performance as we get nearer to 2012. In the mean time we’re still going to show you some of the most interesting apps of 2011 so stick around to see some of the best iPhone and iPad apps of the new year.
