Olympus E-PL2 Micro Four Thirds Camera Gets New Image, Extra Features [New Word Emerges On The Olympus E-PL2, And Images Follow Shortly After]
The Olympus E-PL2 micro four thirds camera is starting to get a whole lot of press presence, which makes some sense given that it’s actually still rumored to show at 2011′s CES. And with new images, and new information, coming out around this one, it’s looking better and better.

Yes, that picture you’re looking at above is a shot of the Olympus E-PL2, or rather, the optional “Medusa” version. The Medusa version is basically the same as the Olympus E-PL2 proper, except it has the obvious addition of two LED spotlights mounted on flexible stalks. These in turn will be a huge help for anyone planning on taking a lot of macro shots with this. And in a further interesting twist, the LEDs will not require an extra battery to operate, but will rather run off internal power.
Further word suggests that the Olympus E-PL2, along with its Medusa version, is set to include a 14-42mm f/3.5 – 5.6 kit lens, a so-called “direct movie’ button likely used in one-touch filming, a three inch display, and the earlier-noted Penpal system, which allows for wireless transfer of your pictures to Android and Windows Phone 7 devices.
There’s still no word yet on whether or not the Olympus E-PL2 will also play nice with iOS gear, an omission that would be pretty glaring given the sheer numbers of people who actually have and use iOS gear on a regular basis. Plus, we also don’t yet know prices or ship dates on this beauty, but if it really does exhibit at the CES show, as it’s been rumored to do, then we’ll almost certainly get the full word on that topic when the show hits. And I’d love to get full word out on this one, because just looking at that picture is enough to intrigue even the most jaded of tech types.
