eBay's Gross Sales Skyrocket Over The Holidays Thanks In Large Part To Their Mobile Apps

eBay's Sales Up 166 Percent Over One Year Ago

All across America retailers saw a real boost in sales over the holiday season compared to the same period in 2009. Many of these companies pointed to this as a sign that the economy is rebounding and one of the largest benefactors was eBay who saw a 166 percent increase in gross revenue from a year ago.

In total, eBay saw $230 million in gross revenue from November 25th to December 25th. eBay’s mobile apps generated just a little less than half of that amount, pulling in nearly $100 million over that same period. In terms of what sold the best, eBay says that designer handbags and diamond jewelry were the most expensive sellers. Electronics were also great sellers with mobile devices being the biggest sellers of that particular category. eBay has been trying to break more and more into the mobile services with their iPhone app being downloaded 13 million times over the last year.
