Best Shopping Experiences For Christmas 2010? Amazon and Netflix. [Amazon And Netflix Top Out Customer Service Satisfaction Survey]

Looking back on your holiday shopping this year, where did you go most often? If you were anything like me, you did about eighty-odd percent of your shopping online, and chances are pretty good that you, also like me, did a lot of that through Amazon or its many, many, many affiliates. And chances are even better that you liked the experience just fine, or so the results of a customer service survey from research firm ForeSee have revealed.

Amazon topped out the scores, earning the highest score, an 86 out of 100 in terms of overall satisfaction. I know what you’re thinking–customer service? Can you be a little more vague?–and that’s all right, because I’ve got an explanation right here. ForeSee’s customer service satisfaction measured four critical vectors: the perceived fairness and competitiveness of the price structures (how often customers could say “I can get that cheaper at X.”), the variety and availability of items (doesn’t matter how much great stuff you have if it’s all sold out), how easy the site itself was to use (whether you could find what you wanted and find it right away), and the quality and accuracy of information found at the site.

And frankly, I understand why Amazon got high marks. I was pretty happy with my Amazon shopping experience, having found a load of sweet swag for the family like flavored coffee and an alarm system, and at surprisingly good prices to boot.

But Amazon wasn’t the only front runner this year–they actually share the top prize with, of all people, Netflix. Again, I understand–as a long time Netflix subscriber myself I know how easy it is to use, and that the prices are fantastic. Other high-ranking sites on the ForeSee survey included electronics dealers Newegg and Apple, clothier LL Bean, and general merch services like Avon and QVC. Interestingly, though, it seems like no one on the survey had a bad experience, as surveyed sites at least ranked in the 70s, according to the above pictured chart. So for next year, consider skipping the lines and such entirely, and instead sticking to the internet, which has loads of great shopping alternatives.
