Verizon Said To Be Talking Android LTE Devices During CES, Not The iPhone [Waiting For Verizon To Announce The iPhone During CES? You May Be In For Some Disappointment]
Ah, the Verizon iPhone. A hotbed of recent rumors, speculation and general chatter. And for some, it seems like an announcement is almost a sure thing at this point and while I was sort of feeling the same way, it seems like things have shifted focus a bit.

You see, Verizon is going to be at CES next week and many were expecting that to be when the big iPhone announcement was going to come. That said, things are now suggesting that Verizon is going to be focused on Android and LTE and not the iPhone. Sure, LTE is exciting and Android is a hot topic but it is hardly the excitement that will come from an iPhone announcement. And I comfortably say that as someone who ditched the iPhone for Android a while back.
Anyway, the latest details are coming by way of Information Week and they state fairly clearly that “the news is likely to disappoint the hoards of journalists and stock analysts who have been predicting the firm will launch a version of Apple’s iPhone.”
“Instead, Verizon said it will provide “a sneak peek of Android-based 4G LTE consumer devices” during the news conference, which will be Webcast live on Jan. 6.”
And just like that there could be some disappointment, myself included in that bunch. Of course, that does not take away any and all hope that something will come. Sadly though, while I would buy a Verizon iPhone should one come available, I think I want this to come true in a manner similar to why I wanted The Beatles to come to iTunes — just so we can end a long running rumor and move onto something else.
Either way, January 6th is almost here so one way or another and good or bad we will know the answer for sure soon enough.
