New Super Mario Bros. First Nintendo DS Game To Sell Six Million

New Super Mario Bros. Sells Six Million On DS, First Game Ever To Do So

Nintendo has never been one to rely on third parties to push their platforms forward. In fact, drop third parties from the Nintendo platform equation and their bottom line would probably barely register it. Just like we barely registered any emotion at all when finding out that New Super Mario Bros. (yes, the one from our Gift Guide) is the DS’ best-selling game and only six-million seller. Yawn.

Famitsu broke the news and presumably the hearts of Pokemon fans everywhere, when they announced New Super Mario Bros. had reached six times seven figures, to the tune of 6,015,255 copies sold to be exact, a figure reached on the second day of Christmas, more than four and a half years from release. There’s no unseating this bad boy, we’ll tell you that much, unless some unholy Monster Hunter DS abomination came along, but then we’d be past worrying about that anyway, what with civilization ending and all.
