DC Universe Online Will Get Monthly Updates On PC & PS3

Sony Will Release Monthly Updates For DC Universe Online, New Instances Every Three Months

When you’re preparing to release a new MMO in an over-saturated market, you have to be brutally honest with yourself. In Sony’s case, they have know that the guy in red and blue tights or the millionaire with the questionable “superhero” status aren’t necessarily going to be pulling gamers away from their current MMO addictions, regardless of their iconic status around the world.

So, what’s Sony’s plan? According to a recent press release, they’re planning monthly updates to DC Universe Online. In the press release, SOE said, “Sony Online Entertainment will update the game every month with new episodes featuring iconic DC Comics characters. New instances and major in-game events are scheduled to be added to the game every three months.”

Most MMO gamers are going to find the promise new instances and major in-game events every three months a hard one to ignore. When coupled with appearances by my personal favorite hero Superman (who, sorry to say, is superior to Batman in every way), you might as well called me addicted.

      Talk about epic fail.

After playing the beta, I can honestly say that the #1 problem with this game is that there’s no room or investment growth for the player’s character(s). If you want to see the DC Universe, buy their comic books instead. Its a lot cheaper than playing an MMO “tourism” game for $15/mo.
