Possible Zelda Famicom Prototype Unearthed, Nintendo Made Early Zelda Easier [Unconfirmed Early Zelda Famicom Prototype Not As Difficult As Original]

If you thought you had Zelda news to be excited about, or thought you’d seen Japanese people squealing over Zelda, you’re probably in for a bit of a shock. News is trickling down the a website called Lost Levels, which makes it its business to release all sorts of information on unreleased games has reportedly gotten hold of what would be, if authentic, the gaming equivalent of the first draft of Hamlet, only with more princess rescuing instead of princess slaying.

The cartridge definitely has that whole clandestine prototype smuggled out of a secure facility vibe, for what that’s worth. And apparently the prototype of the game is way, way easier than the final version, with loads more rupee drops and considerably less challenging enemies, so that’s probably another point in favor of authenticity. Apparently you can even play it on a modified emulator, which we’re not entirely sure is legal or not, but what’s a little bit of jail time compared to the possibility of seeing how much of your childhood you could have saved?
