We love useful iPhone apps as much as the next geek, we’ll be the first to admit, but how many iPhone apps get announced by the mayor of a major American city? Yes, apparently this app developed by the good (we’re assuming here, but we see no reason not to) people at Streetline lets you find an available parking space and updates you with real time parking information in the Hollywood area.

“By making parking easier, we can help people get where they are going faster, and reduce pollution and traffic congestion caused by drivers circling in hopes of finding an open spot.”, Mayor Villaraigosa said. The pollution angle seems far-fetched, until you hear about that “30 percent of all Hollywood pollution is  caused by drivers circling around looking for parking spaces” statistic. Now we’re just left wondering how long until we get something similar this side of the pond.
