Everyone knows that Farmville is one of the most popular Facebook games in the world, but what people may not have known is that it is no longer the most popular game on Facebook. Game developer Zynga has certainly found a formula for success.

Cityville hasn’t just become a little more popular than its old brother Farmville. According to monitoring firm AppData, Cityville is the most popular program on Facebook and has passed Farmville in pretty much all area. Cityville recently began tallying 16.8 million daily active users compared to Farmville’s usually impressive 16.4 million daily users. For monthly totals, Cityville is bringing in over 60 million users while Farmville is second with 56.8 million.

Zynga is actually so popular these days that they currently hold four of the top five most played games on Facebook with Frontierville and Texas Hold ‘Em Poker ranking fourth and fifth. Only Phrases is the non-Zynga made game in the top five.
