Smartphone Sales Expected To Reach 500 Million Units In 2011
Industry insiders are saying a perfect convergence of cheaper equipment and advances in technology such as higher network speeds and better coverage will mean that Smartphone sales will reach an all-time high totaling more than 500 million units in 2011.

The half billion Smartphones sales will be in large part thanks to the fact that even more phones are being sold for under $100, more than ever before. Industry insiders say that sales for the Smartphone were already rising quite nicely. In 2009, 174 million units were sold while that number went up 270 million in 2010. Now those same insiders are saying the sales figures will more than double from 2010 to 2011.
One of the biggest benefactors of the growth of popularity is expected to be the Android phones. Google thinks that the increased interest in phones with all sort of different apps means that their particular brand will become even more popular than it already is.
