HTC Thunderbolt 4G Android Handset Spotted, Is It the Droid Incredible HD?
Last week we saw a bunch of leaks, supposedly coming from HTC, that showed us a next-gen Android device. The handset in question could very well be the (Droid) Incredible HD also known as the Mecha, a 4.3-inch Android device said to come to Verizon in the near future.

Today we find out that the handset we keep referring to as the Incredible HD could be called something entirely different. The Thunderbolt 4G is the moniker in question and, from the looks of it, it’s pretty official.
The Thunderbolt has been spotted in a new HTC ad that was pointing to a very specific URL page: http://www.htc.com/4G?extcid=Thunderbolt-4G-Disp. Well, technically, it was spotted in the link I just showed you.
Without being actually confirmed by HTC in a neat press release, and we’ll have to wait for CES 2011 to arrive before we see such releases, the Thunderbolt 4G seems to be one of HTC’s next 4G Android smartphones. We have no specs and features for you yet, but we imagine this Thunderbolt to be a flagship device, especially since it would come with 4G powers and even if it’s not the Incredible HD. At least it’d better come with Gingerbread on board right out of the box!
Since cell phone names aren’t really important, we could care less whether HTC and/or Verizon will baptize this baby the Mecha, the Incredible HD or the Thunderbolt 4G. Although since Verizon/Sprint will want to make 4G support pretty clear to their customers, the Thunderbolt 4G would sound like a more logical name choice for this handset. What we’re surely curios to hear is exactly how many 4G Android devices will HTC reveal at CES, and how many of those are going to head to Verizon in the near future.
Stick with us and we’ll tell you all about the upcoming 4G Android smartphone lineup coming to Verizon in 2011 as the carrier is planning to announce a bunch of such devices on January 6 at CES 2011 since we’re going to cover the event live from Las Vegas. And if the HTC Thunderbolt 4G does make it to the show too, we’ll be allover it for you guys.
