Apple Reportedly Increases Q1 2011 iPhone Shipments Estimate
As if we needed anything further in terms of rumors of a Verizon iPhone. Well, just in case you did need something, another bit has come this morning, which is reportedly from “sources” and is suggesting that Apple has increased the Q1 2011 shipping estimates.

And as you can expect, the iPhone shipping estimates include both the current version as well as the CDMA version which for those who may have been living under a rock — is expected to arrive with Verizon as early as January. Of course, there was also mention of some of the CDMA variety heading to Asia-Pacific, which would suggest a possible release with China Mobile, SK Telecom as well as a few other carriers.
Man, would we not have a bunch of angry Verizon using Apple fans here in the US if all of those were released in China and Korea as opposed to the US. But lets go back, back to happier thoughts of Verizon and an iPhone in January in the US. According to the latest details, which are coming from DigiTimes and un-named sources.
“Apple has raised the global shipment goal for its iPhones for first-quarter 2011 from 19 million units originally to 20-21 million units, according to sources with Taiwan-based component suppliers.”
Furthermore, it was noted that the WCDMA version saw an increase from 13 million to 14-15 million and it will be “launched in North America and Asia Pacific in the first quarter.”
With that, we are left waiting for something official in terms of a Verizon announcement. That said, realistically, I would still expect to see more rumor before we see anything official. And I would say it is good that January is almost here, however assuming it comes and goes without an announcement that probably just means the Verizon iPhone rumors will roll-over to later in the year.
